President Kikwete in a three-nation tour

PRESIDENT Dr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete arrived in Paris, France, on Saturday for a five-day state visit following an invitation by the President of France, Francois Hollande.

The president who is accompanied by his wife arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris where a guard of honour was hosted in his honour.

A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communication in Dar es Salaam says President Kikwete will on Sunday hold talks with the Executive Director of Private Fund, Ms Frannie Leautier and later in the day meet the Executive Director of Radio France International (RFI), Ms Marie Christine Saragosse.

This will be followed by a meeting between President Kikwete and the Tanzania community living in France. According to the programme, President Kikwete will tomorrow hold talks with President Hollande at Elysee Palace. The talks between the two presidents will be followed by a luncheon to be hosted by the Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius.

Later in the day President Kikwete will meet and talk with the President of an international oil company (Total), Yves Louis Darricarere. He will also hold talks with the spiritual leader of the World Muslim Ismailia Community, The Aga Khan and later the president will go to the Luxemburg Palace to meet and hold talks with the President of the Senate of France, Jean Pierre Bel.

On Monday night President Kikwete will have dinner with the former France President, Valery Giscard d’Estaing who is also the Chairman of Tanzania Wildlife Conservation Foundation. On Tuesday President Kikwete will have another busy working day, which among other things, he will meet and discuss with African envoys accredited to France.

He is also going to meet the UN Francophone Secretary General and former president of Senegal, Abdou Diouf. President Kikwete will also participate in a discussion organised by the Institut Francais des Relations International (IFRI) and hold talks with the Director General of African France Development.

President Kikwete is expected to leave France on Wednesday for Switzerland where he will visit the FIFA headquarters in Zurich and later move to Davos to attend this year’s World Economic Forum (WEF). According to a previous statement, the president will on January 26, 2013, join other African Heads of State to participate in the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
