About 34 aftershocks are said to have been recorded following the trembler.

Yunnan’s Civil Affairs Department said that about 55,000 people were affected by the natural disaster.

The provincial earthquake bureau says that a rescue team along with supplies and 6,000 tents are on their way to the area.
