Fergie won't let 15-point lead slip
TO THE BITTER END ... Fergie is not counting his chickens

ALEX FERGUSON is on the verge of leading Manchester United
to the most emphatic title triumph EVER.
But the Old Trafford boss refuses to accept No 20 is in the
bag.
United now lead by 15 points but Fergie said: “You don’t get
medals for being complacent and we won’t be.”
Wayne Rooney’s first-half goal was enough to give United a
1-0 win over Reading.
That opened up a 15-point lead over Manchester City at the
top of the table with only nine games left.
The record winning margin in English football is 18 points —
set by United over Arsenal in 1999-2000.
That mark is now under threat but Fergie admitted: “It
wasn’t a great performance but where we are today is not down to today.
“That’s down to the previous six months. The team has shown
great consistency.”
Match winner Rooney echoed his manager and refused to get
carried away as the Old Trafford outfit close on a record 20th top-flight
title.
He said: “We’re in a fantastic position with nine games to
go and 15 points clear but we have to go out and do our job every week.”
Reading caretaker-boss Eamonn Dolan was angry ref Lee Mason
did not give a penalty for a Nemanja Vidic push on Adrian Mariappa.
He said: “It was a clear pen but I think the referee thought
I was on work experience and perhaps we were all on work experience.
“Perfect, a little 1-0 loss for Reading will be OK, a bit of
glorious disappointment. I wouldn’t expect that from the ref, I’d expect him to
do it fairly.”
